The Ministry of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs in Qatar, HE Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi, has announced the working hours during the holy month of Ramadan. In a circular issued on Thursday, March 7, 2024, the ministry specified the official working hours for ministries, government agencies, public bodies, and institutions.
To accommodate the spiritual observance and ensure the well-being of civil servants, it has been decided that the official working hours during Ramadan will be five hours a day. The working day will start at nine in the morning and conclude at two in the afternoon.
This adjustment in working hours is a customary practice during Ramadan, allowing individuals to observe their religious duties and spend time with their families. It is a time of reflection, prayer, and fasting for Muslims around the world.
The Ministry’s decision reflects its commitment to supporting the religious and cultural practices of its employees and the wider community. By reducing the working hours, individuals will have the opportunity to participate fully in the spiritual activities of Ramadan while also maintaining their professional responsibilities.
It is important for both employers and employees to adhere to these adjusted working hours during Ramadan. This will ensure a harmonious and productive work environment, promoting a healthy work-life balance for everyone.
As the holy month approaches, let us embrace the spirit of Ramadan and use this time for self-reflection, compassion, and gratitude. May this blessed month bring peace, joy, and blessings to all.
Please note that these working hours apply specifically to civil servants in Qatar. Private sector companies may have different arrangements, so it is advisable to check with your employer for their specific guidelines during Ramadan.
